KENTFIELD FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT BLOOD DRIVE
You may have heard that we recently lost our longest-standing (over
50 years of service), most beloved, and dedicated volunteer, Asst.
Chief Frank Zita. Some of you may remember Frank as your mailman
years ago (he was mine). Among his many duties, Frank was the on-site
coordinator for our periodic blood drives that we conduct on a
quarterly basis at the Kentfield firehouse (on Tuesday drill nights).
I have agreed to take over for Frank to keep this important public
service going.
The public has always been invited to attend the blood drives.
Historically, we have displayed a banner at the firehouse about a
week before each blood drive, inviting all interested people to join
our volunteer and paid members in donating, but we suspect that the
banner may very well not be sufficient to notify many of the
Greenbrae residents of the blood drives due to the physical location
of the Kentfield Fire Station. Your GPOA representative has very
generously offered to assist us in getting the word out to Greenbrae
residents.
Not only are the blood drives an opportunity to provide the
precious gift of life to others in our community who are in dire need
of blood, but it is a wonderful opportunity for our fire district
residents to see the fire department that they so generously support
year in and year out, and provides an easy opportunity to interact
and speak with the dedicated people that serve you through the fire
district. For our neighbors and friends in Larkspur Fires
jurisdiction, it does not presently sponsor periodic blood drives,
and has kindly given its support for KFPDs drives.
Our next blood drive is scheduled for Tuesday, NOVEMBER 28, 2006,
from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., at the station.
The drive is provided by the Blood Centers of the Pacific, with
their regular personnel. Anyone interested in donating can simply
show up, or if they prefer, can actually set up their own specific
donation appointments on-line (at 15 minute intervals) during the
time the blood drive is scheduled by logging onto www.bloodheroes.com
, sponsor code: Kentfield Fire. The only information required is a
name and phone #.
If you have any questions you may call me at 415.491.0828, or email
me at humlaw at pacbell.net[1].
We hope to see you there
Erik Humber, Volunteer, KFPD
OnSite Blood Drive Coordinator
