May 7, 2016 Community May Day Celebration

Dear Greenbrae Residents,

I am writing to let you know that the Kentfield-Greenbrae Historical Society (KGHS) is having a May Day Community Celebration on Saturday, May 7, 2016 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and to invite you to attend this event, which will take place at Kent Middle School. You may recall that, two years ago, the KGHS organized the Centennial of the Kent School. This event was a tremendous success with over 2,500 community members in attendance. This year, the KGHS is celebrating the entire Kentfield and Greenbrae community with an afternoon of vintage kids’ games, maypole dancing, the Kent Jazz Student Band, historical displays, Kentfield student project, historical tours by the Kent Student History Club, and food trucks. Attached is a poster for the event. The KGHS is thrilled to welcome the following local organizations to its Community Hall:

Kentfield Fire Department
College of Marin
Marin General Hospital
Kent Woodlands Property Owner’s Association
Greenbrae Property Owners Association
Kentfield Schools PTA
Kentfield Schools kik Foundation
Kentfield School District
Kentfield Schools District Safe Routes to School Program
Kentfield Planning Advisory Board
Friends of Corte Madera Creek
Ross Valley Nursery School
Corte Madera Creek Improvement Project (Flood Prevention Project)
Sir Francis Drake Rehabilitation Project (with Supervisor Katie Rice)
Assemblyman Marc Levine
The Marin Independent Journal (with editor Robert Sterling and Opinion Page Editor Brad Breithaupt)
Marin County Library
Rustic Bakery (which will serve donated baked goods)
Peets Coffee Bon Air (which will serve donated coffee)

If you would like to volunteer to help with this event, please use the following link to sign up: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/8050a4eac238-mayday. The KGHS especially encourages students interested in earning Community Service hours to help with the kids’ games!

The GPOA and the KGHS hope to have strong local participation in this free, community event. Everyone is warmly welcome! For more information about the KGHS, see www.kghs.org.

Very truly yours,

Jack V. Valinoti
GPOA President
